We are pleased to present the Flower Count website for 2009.

While we were on a fairly short timeline from start to finish, we managed to introduce some innovative social media aspects to this year’s online campaign.

  • The website itself provides all the information people need to participate.  It also allows participants to record their flower count tally directly on the main page.
  • The database produces a regular tally that Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce organizers use to report results to the media.
  • Each time a flower count is reported on the website, or called in to a volunteer, Twitter broadcasts it.
  • We set up a FaceBook group to support the initiative.  We hope this group continues to grow throughout the year, so the 2010 Flower Count will begin with a ready group of eager online supporters.

This project is part of our two-year commitment to this important community effort.  We have many more ideas for next year, and appreciate your feedback on how to make the online components of this important community event even better next year!

Note: all our work on this project, including website hosting, design, programming, and the social media campaign have been provided completely free of charge.  This is one small way we are helping to give back to the community in Greater Victoria, which has been, and continues to be such a fabulous place for our employees to live and work for the past 8-and-a-half years!
