Victoria BC Points of Interest – Royal BC Museum
- 675 Belleville St, Victoria, BC V8W 9W2
Your family will have hours of hands-on fun, learn about the history and people of BC and experience some breathtaking real-life exhibitions at the Royal BC Museum and Archives on Belleville Street by Victoria’s Inner Harbour. BC’s greatest treasure trove, the Royal BC Museum has been collecting and sharing artifacts and specimens from BC’s natural and man made worlds since 1886.
There is something for everyone within the museum’s three permanent galleries: Natural History, Becoming BC and the First Peoples gallery. These galleries are located on the third floor of the museum and are currently being closed in phases, to prepare for a modernization of the galleries. All artifacts and histories will be preserved as these changes take place. The new permanent collections will be a modern, contemporary experience suited to preserving the cultures of BC in a way that is respectful to all.
For the nature lover in your group, see how you measure up to a Woolly Mammoth in the Ice Age exhibit and whether you can keep your cool when you come face to face with a bear in the replica coastal forest.
The museum also features touring exhibitions that change annually. Previous exhibits have included Vikings, Egyptians and the RMS Titanic.Â
A visit to the museum is never complete without stopping to watch the latest film being presented at the on site IMAX theatre, a jaw-dropping, immersive experience.
